Full-Time IT Lead (Federal Territory/Kuala Lumpur)
Job Description
The Global Information Technology (IT) group provides technical services and support to the global ConocoPhillips network.
The Malaysian Business Unit operates from the Kuala Lumpur office in the Petronas Towers.
The Information Technology (IT) group supports all operating areas of the business unit, support is provided from a leveraged IT support organisation.
The IT Lead is accountable to the Malaysian division of ConocoPhillips for the business value and performance of IT services. The role is also accountable to the IT function for advocacy of the IT policies, strategies and practices.
The position will be a key interface between the business unit leadership team and the IT function.
The Job:
– Be the focal point for the provision of IT services to the Malaysia business unit
– Manage IT service level expectations for the business unit and work with IT service groups, perform demand management role for services provided by IT
– Lead and supervise a small team of IT support staff, sustain and develop a highly motivated workforce
– Co-manage the full IT budget for the business unit and communicate to the BU payers and consumers both the costs & value of services provided
– Define business requirements for the future operations, prepare to operate and maintain IT systems
– Understand business processes end-to-end, actively measuring business contribution of enabling systems; initiate improvements to process or systems
– Translate business needs/strategies into IT requirements and source IT services to meet needs (current & future)
– Perform Front End Load (FEL), business case development and where appropriate lead projects
– Be willing to be “hands-on” and provide front level application support as part of local IT support team
– Assist with contractor services management, vendor management, software license and maintenance agreement management, and communication of general Information Systems (IS) initiatives
– Translate Corporate IT Governance policies into BU actions
– Implement & promote IT Information Security Policy & Standards
– Ensure that BU IT strategy is in alignment with business and Corporate IT strategy
Requirements:
– Relevant tertiary training and qualifications related to business or computing in a business environment
– 7 – 10 years of work experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
– Information Technology Systems & Infrastructure knowledge/experience
– Good verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to influence
– Self motivated with a strong customer orientation
– Willingness to learn and support new systems
– Ability to work with vendors and teams to support systems and resolve issues
– Ability to work autonomously in a client focused, team oriented environment
– Ability to see the “big picture” in business process/systems terms
– Excellent analytical capabilities; transforming business needs into clear requirements and functional specifications
– Project Management expertise, understanding of project management methodology
– Experience in IT budget preparation and managing IT services
– Experience in supporting exploration & drilling systems .e.g. Halliburton, Schlumberger toolsets
– Broad knowledge of Exploration & Production Information Systems
– Good knowledge of software lifecycle management
