General Manager – Sports Division
Job Description
(reports to Chief Executive Officer)
JOB PURPOSE:
– To be responsible and accountable for the commercial, operations and overall management of the Sports division.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Responsible for the P & L of all agency lines brands and all sports retail stores.
– Provide the vision and develop the business strategy for each of the brands for the marketplace.
– Ensure that the pricing, trade marketing, merchandising and advertising and promotions strategies are in line with the organizational and brand strategy
– Manage a team of staff which includes Brand Managers, Sales Managers, Merchandising Managers, Operations Manager and the entire sports retail team
– Manage the merchandising team of agency lines brands, 3rd party brands as well as consignment brands to our own stores
– Manage the wholesale business of the agency lines brands
– Manage all the retail stores, which are multi-brand concepts as well as mono-brand stores
– Manage the consignment counters in major department stores
– Work hand in hand with HR team to ensure all areas covering human resources are being managed and carried out efficiently, including team development and building
– Accomplish subsidiary objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections.
– Increase management’s effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, coaching, counseling, and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing educational opportunities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
– Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, post graduate diploma, professional degree, in business/retail management/marketing or equivalent.
– At least 15 years of experience with the last 10 years in a leadership position of an established company or division.
– Candidate must have retail experience and proven track record in merchandising, business development, business expansion, and profitability.
– Strong leadership and general management skills with a demonstrated track record of achievements delivering sales and profit margin.
– Ability to build and lead strong management team, motivate and influence others to achieve a tangible result.
– Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to forge strong business.
– Excellent in communication skills. Proficient in English.
– Proficient in MS Office and knowledge using SAP will be an added advantage.
