Job Description
Job Summary:
Oversee Environment, Safety & Health systems in the hospital. Ensure compliance to Occupational, Safety & Health Act, Bomba License requirements, DOSH requirements, other Quality or hospital Accreditation standards requirements pertaining to ESH matters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Plan, implement, monitor and improve control measures to ensure safety for staff, patients and visitors throughout the hospital.
– Liaise with risk and quality management, managers, senior managers and administrators to improve ESH issues within the hospital.
– Performs routine surveillance throughout the hospital, plans and conduct emergency preparedness drills to enhance staff preparedness.
– Liaise with project team and conducts workplace briefings and surveillance of project sites to ensure safety of workers
– Conducts investigation on staff, patient and visitor’s injury at workplace, performs root cause analysis, make recommendations for improvements and keep records of documents for audit.
– Plan and liaise with local authorities for BOMBA, Chemical Health Risk Issues, USECHH and DOSH up to date requirements’ compliance.
– To conduct, promote, coordinate training activities on ESH matters for all staff.
– To coordinate Safety & Health Committee meetings.
– To facilitate the Safety & Health Committee members’ activities as per requirements.
– To maintain updated records of chemicals, chemical usage, incidents, inspection reports and replies.
– To analyse data collected, follow-up on actions taken and maintain reports where appropriate.
– To write up, recommend changes of policies & procedures relating to ESH.
– Performs vendor audits on ESH matters where appropriate.
– To participate in other hospital activities and carry out any other duties deemed necessary by superior.
Academic Qualification:
– Degree in any related healthcare program. Certificate in ESH by NIOSH. Registered with DOSH.
Minimum Experience:
– At least 5 years experienced in healthcare work and experience in ESH will be an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors:
– Experience in ESH for healthcare, hospital accreditation standards (MSQH & JCI) will be an advantage. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Computer literate and analytical skills needed.
